The Legendary Malleo:

Smaller than many of the region's rivers, the Malleo River offers outstanding river structure, making it a true paradise for dry-fly fishing and light-tackle anglers.

Mayfly, caddis and small stonefly hatches are frequent and highly predictable throughout most of the fishing season.

Classic mid-size dry flies (#12-#16), such as Adams, Red Quills, March Browns and Elk Hair Caddis, work exceptionally well early in the season, while BWOs, Blue Duns and smaller #16-#20 mayfly patterns become increasingly effective from mid-March onward.

Fishing the Malleo River from Estancia San Huberto offers it all: quick and easy access to the river, effortless wading in the upper section, excellent sight-fishing opportunities and moderate current speeds.

The Malleo River is strictly a wade-fishing, catch-and-release fishery.

Huaca Mamuil River:

The Huaca Mamuil is a classic mountain spring creek that originates in Lanin National Park and flows for several miles through Estancia San Huberto before joining the legendary Malleo River.

It is one of our favorite early-season fisheries. We fish the Huaca Mamuil from November through mid January, although it usually fishes at its very best until late December. Over the years, it has become a favorite among many returning guests.

Its pristine, crystal-clear waters provide outstanding sight-fishing opportunities and reward anglers willing to hike a little in search of selective wild trout.

Rio Huaca Mamuil

Deep pools with rocky dark bottoms, shallow long runs, curves, riffles, drop offs, plenty of pockets to find big browns that in some cases they will measure over 24"... just a perfect little stream you'll enjoy!
