Beneath Patagonia's magestic stars, Estancia Arroyo Verde is located about a two hour drive south from San Martin de los Andes, and about an hour away from the Bariloche airport.
This elegant Lodge offers excellent cuisine, uniformed service, and a very peaceful ambience. The beautiful main house is surrounded by magnificent scenery and landscape. It is the perfect blend of the spirit of the Andes and the essence of Patagonia.
The main house offers 1 single and 3 double bedrooms each one with a private bathroom, plus one comfortable suite for 2 to 4 guests with one bathroom in an adjacent building.
For those who are looking for extra seclusion and spectacular views they also offer accommodations for 4 more guests in the lake cabin (also ideal for families), which has all the necessary comfort to enjoy a quiet and relaxed stay (fire place, kitchen, bar). The log cabin overlooks the Traful lake and it is located on top of a rocky cliff, just 10 minutes away from the main lodge.

Fishing and the Legendary Traful River.....
Beauty and trophies
Over 10 miles of "the magical Traful River" run through Arroyo Verde's property were there is rarely a chance to find another angler.
This is the probably the best river in all Patagonia to find and catch trophy Atlantic Landlocked Salmon and in the same river challenge monster browns and extremely strong and silvery rainbows.
The Traful's gin-clear waters hold several trophy trout and land-lock Atlantic Salmon records and could be the most demanding sight-fishing river in all the area.
The ranch provides easy and quick access to the fishing areas. You can estimate 5 to 15 minutes to be in the water!
This is an "only wading" river, for 12 rods max!
Fly fishing for monsters
The Traful River runs through a spectacular, wind and water sculpted valley. The river provides great fishing structure and unforgettable scenery.
The pristine and gin-clear waters are perfect for sight-fishing. I would not say it easy, as a matter of fact, it is really demanding compared with other rivers. But there is no doubt, that the adrenaline will be flowing and it's a lot of fun! We will spot some really big fish that, in many cases, go over 30 inches. Catching them, well, that's another story!
Some people tend to think the only way to catch them is with streamer, but that's a mistake... they rise...they will come up for big mouse patterns, foam dries, bombers, old classic ones like a big Royal Wulff... I'm telling you, if you like to "hunt" for the big ones, this is the place!
Atlantic landlocked Salmon can frequently be found, and catching a 3 to 10 pound salmon is not unusual, especially in early or late season. The Traful river is the only river that really holds a good healthy population of Atlantic Salmon (in Northern Patagonia Argentina).
In most of the cases the wading is easy to very easy, except for some rocky areas in the middle and lower sections. The "beauty of the scene" is really breathtaking.
To be honest and clear, the Traful river is not a river for numbers. Fishing can be hard and sometimes dissapointing, if your only goal is to catch a lot of trout each day. There are not as many fish in this river as in others in Patagonia, but they are big, and just need one to fall inlove withthis river and its special fish !
Knowing that ahead is important from our point of view. This is a unique and beautiful place, where you might never see another angler. We will spend time looking for the big ones and enjoying the magical views that surround us and it will be fun!
My favorite time to fish the Traful is early or late season. Usually the hotter time of the season makes fishing a bit harder, but many records had been landed in the most hottest days of February...

Activities for non-anglers
It is not unsual that anglers will travel with their non-fishing partners, wifes, kids?... and Arroyo Verde has many activities if you are not fishing.
As we mentioned before, Arroyo Verde is located in a beautiful valley. Surrounded by amazing mountains and a native forest where there are a lot of paths and trails for those who love to hike or horse back ride. Little streams and hidden lagoons offer a world of alternatives for the adventuruos visitors.
Reaching the top of the ranch's amazing rock formations and you will discover new views of the Traful River and it's Lake. You can also enjoy the national park's rich forrest and vast territory.
If you love horses and wilderness, this ranch offers one of the most stunning areas to ride beautiful and tame horses and enjoy a different day (or a few hours, whatever you prefer)
Other activities like birding, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking can be arranged. This should be discussed beforehand, while we are still in the planing stages of your trip, since specific guides and gear will be needed
For those who prefer a quiet atmosphere and love to read a book and enjoy the view, what could be any better!
